In her native Argentina, Cecilia Esquivel studied at the National Conservatory
of Music. She taught voice lessons and co-directed a choir for the "musically
challenged."
She moved to Washington in 1984. As a member of Cantaré, she performs music from
Latin America for young audiences and families in schools, libraries, festivals
and other community venues. She also teaches workshops and residencies. In
addition, she performs both as a soloist and with ensembles, sings with
Coral Cantigas
, and does studio work as singer and recording producer.
Cecilia holds a BA in Music Performance from the University of Maryland and an
LCSW-C degree from the Catholic University of America. In her performances and
workshops, she combines her knowledge of music and social work to reach
individuals with a variety of learning styles, educational challenges and
emotional difficulties.

Pianist Patricia Vergara, originally from Brazil, studied classical piano since
age 7, having later attended the University of Rio de Janeiro as a piano major.
At Berklee School of Music (Boston-MA) she received her Diploma in Performance,
having graduated "Magna cum Laude". The daughter of a Brazilian mother and a
Bolivian father, Patricia grew up in both countries and became not only
bilingual, but also fully versed in the rich artistic expressions of Brazil and
Bolivia, each with their varied cultural heritage and musical influences
(Spanish, Portuguese, African, Indigenous and, most recently, world rhythms
such as jazz and reggae).
Patricia has been performing and teaching in Brazil, Europe and the USA for
more than 15 years. She has taught privately and at the Seminarios de Musica
Pro Arte and the Swiss School of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil; the Ateliers de
Musique Bresillienne in Strasbourg - France, where she conducted workshops on
different Brazilian styles; the Studio 90 Music Center and the American School
of Music, in the Boston area, MA. She has played with a number of well-known
Brazilian recording artists with whom she toured extensively throughout Brazil
and Europe. From 1990 to 1997 she resided in the Boston area, where she
performed with several local groups ranging in style from Latin to reggae and
jazz. Patricia also appears in a number of recordings as a player and as a
producer.
Some performance highlights are appearances at the Free Jazz Festival, in Rio de
Janeiro -Brazil; the Jazz D'O Festival, in Montpellier- France; the Brotfabrik
jazz clubs circuit, in Germany; the Wien International Dance Festival, in
Austria; the Berklee Performance Center, in Boston-MA; the Newport Reggae
Festival, in Newport-RI; the Auditorium de Lyon, in Lyon- France.
